CLEARWATER, Fla. – The City of Clearwater invites the public to a June 19 holiday celebration presented in partnership with Artz for Life Academy and the Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition on Saturday, June 18 at Walter C. Campbell Park, 801 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Join the city, its partners, and local dignitaries for a family-friendly event featuring free food, drinks, bouncy houses, vendors, DJ music, door prizes, live entertainment, and an event program , including song and dance presentations, a poetry reading, a re-enactment of June 19, and historical perspective provided by Dr. Joy Moore-Cruse, of St. Petersburg College.

There will also be two educational events on the June 16 holiday at local libraries leading up to the community event:

Friday, June 17, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

North Greenwood Library
905 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
Windell Campbell will educate the community about Juneteenth through stories and songs.

Saturday June 18 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Field Library, 2642 Sabal Springs Dr.
Celebrate Juneteenth and the legacy of Frederick Douglass with a performance by Donald L. Dowridge Jr., whose solo portrayal of Douglass highlights his triumphant rise from slavery to statesman.

City of Clearwater offices, libraries and recreation facilities are closed on Monday, June 20 for the June 16 holiday. The city’s solid waste service will be operating and there will be no change to the collection schedule.
