A comprehensive list of community events right at your fingertips at Rolling Meadows
After the pandemic forced cancellation of most events in 2020, the Rolling Meadows Community Events Foundation and city officials have a full roster of local gatherings on the 2021 calendar, from concerts and festivals to community dinners and the annual tree lighting.
It all started last weekend with an abridged Memorial Day parade and ceremony, and the city’s first market of the year.
Organizers are now preparing for the annual Block Party on Central Road outside Rolling Meadows High School, scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11.
Jet Set 4 will perform from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and in American English from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Next week, ROCK FRIDAY! The & Roll in Meadows concert series begins in Kimball Hill Park with 1980s cover band Hi Infidelity. The Friday June 18 show runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with additional concerts scheduled for July 9 and September 10.
Following the town’s first market last Saturday outside the Rolling Meadows Community Church, 2720 Kirchoff Road, the following markets are scheduled for June 26, July 17, August 28 and September 25.
The July 4th Parade will return, starting high school at 11:30 am and ending in the Jewel parking lot. City officials are collecting parade requests through June 18 from residents, businesses, organizations, clubs and school groups, available on cityrm.org.
In April, city council also approved funding for a larger fireworks show, slated for July 4 at 9:15 p.m. behind the community center along Pheasant Drive.
Other 2021 events include Wine-Down by the Creek on Friday, August 13; a senior lunch on Tuesday, September 7; Hometown Hoedown Fall Fest on Saturday October 2; the new Halloween kickoff on Kirchoff on Saturday, October 30; Veterans Dinner on Friday, November 5; and tree lighting and spaghetti dinner on Thursday, December 2.
