Violet Crown Community Works seeks new members
The Violet Crown Community Works is actively seeking new members. Many of the people who bring you the Spring festival have been at it for years and are ready to move on to other endeavors. If you want this ten year neighborhood event to continue it is time to step up and join the group. There will be an open (as always) meeting Monday / 7pm @ the Rose Property office on Koenig. The agenda will include a review of the current bylaws. September will bring the election of new officers and board members so this is a good time to come and get oriented. Membership requires a once monthly 2 hour meeting (second Monday) until festival time when meetings become weekly for about the last four to six weeks.

Traffic calming schedule
Below is the estimated Street and Bridge construction schedule for the Crestview Neighborhood Traffic Calming Project for the week of June 11th - 15th.
6/11 Monday A7 and A11-(Watson St.) Excavate spoils, set forms and pour the two devices. Drill 8" cores for perk testing at all rain garden locations.
6/12 Tuesday A7 and A11-(Watson St.) Remove forms, backfill and plant devices. A5 and A6-(Tisdale Dr and Gault St.) Excavate spoils, set forms and pour the two devices.
6/13 Wednesday A5 and A6-(Tisdale Dr and Gault St.) Remove forms, backfill and plant devices. B1 and A12-(Morrow St. and Grover Ave.) Excavate spoils, set forms and pour the two devices.
6/14 Thursday B1 and A12-(Morrow St. and Grover Ave.) Remove forms, backfill and plant devices. A15 and A16-(Grover Ave.) Excavate spoils, set forms and pour the two devices.
6/15 Friday A15 and A16-(Grover Ave.) Remove forms, backfill and plant devices. A15 and A16-(Grover Ave.) Install Asphalt Cushions.(1 device at each location)
They are doing the entire project, so this is not a token effort. The process will take 2 months, so prepare for crews to be around June and July and part of August.
They will :
Cut the asphalt
Dig down and put in forms
Pour curbing
Fill in
Plant (with a basic palette of plants) - the crew that does this will follow in afterwards, unfortunately it will probably be done this summer. Fortunately, the City will water with water trucks for 1 year after planting. (After that it will be the neighborhood's job to water, weed, replace dead/diseased plants - The neighborhood association will be asking for volunteers to adopt a median soon)
The difficult projects - Traffic circle on Yates and Piedmont & large island on Burnet and Cullen will be saved for last.

Neighorhood Feedback Request
Neighbors,
I am contacting you to check on any progress, provide info, and hold the City accountable on their latest timeline for traffic calming measures throughout the Crestview boundaries. Recently, a neighbor and Crestview neighborhood association member, did some follow-up on the measures that prompted city staff to prioritize our project and once again give us a timeline for work. According to George Jackson, City of Austin Project Manager for the Crestview Traffic Calming, the installation of medians should begin Monday, June 11th (Approx. - he is still trying to get revised traffic plans approved so that they have the permits in hand to begin work).
Here is where I need YOUR help! George Jackson says that crews have been out putting up markers showing where the median will go and that they will continue to complete that this week and next week. IF you have seen this work being done in your part of hood, SEND ME AN EMAIL, verifying that this is being done.
We have been given so many delays, it is important to hold the city to this latest timeline.
