Update on CNPCT
Elections will take place the 3rd Monday in August, 6:30pm, at the Crestview Methodist Church. The July meeting will take place the 3rd Monday in July. They need at least 12 people to elect officers.
Don will post a link to the neighborhood plan on the CNA website
Ice cream social
This will be in place of the July meeting.
Tonia received approval from Tony to hold the social on July 17, 11am-1pm. We also need to talk to Ronny of the IGA beforehand.
Kat, Susan and Emily will bring coolers.
Emily, Kat, and Deanna will bring tables.
Don will bring the canopy.
Invitations for tables will be made to Sustainable Neighborhoods (Jonathan), Violet Crown (Susan), and Friends of Brentwood Park (Emily).
CNA will have a membership table.
There will be a raffle – Target of 6-8 raffle gifts, suggested $25 gift certificates for the IGA and the Little Deli [we voted to buy], and Eddie and Denise will contact other organizations for donations. Membership not required, 1 winner per household.
Kat will contact last year’s DJ (w/ PA and sound system) and musicians to see if they’d be willing to perform again.
Emily will ask the Fire Department can bring their truck.
Display Case
Groups will be allowed to share half of the display case between the IGA and the pharmacy if they are a volunteer organization doing things for the community. Decide on a case by case basis. If we have something to put in, it will go in. Multiple requests for the space will either share or be on a first-come first-served basis. CNA stuff (ice cream social pics, etc.) takes precedence. 30 day duration. [Voted OK]
Future Meeting Structure/General Calendar
Topics for each month – Safety, gardening, planning/zoning, elections, etc. Deanna will send out a theme/month match-up list. These things will not take up time for business, and hot issues will take precedence.
Denise was elected for Place 3.
Establish a Crestview Google Group? Don will ask Jonathan about it, since it already exists.
Jonathan asked for an update on the traffic calming at the next meeting. Emily will contact Steve Dobie (or Gary Shatz, the assistant director of transportation with the city) to find out the status. Adopt a median idea.
We will vote on the funding policy that Eddie passed out in August. Eddie will send Don a final electronic version to post on the CNA website.
There is a request to turn the liquor store on the Highland side of Lamar into a bus depot.
Finances
$11733
+$20 memberships
+$678 ad revenue
-$412 printing
-$93 Mutt Mitts
TOTAL: $11925.74
Next meeting – develop ideas for sub-committees.

Brentwood Park master plan meetings - Aug. 6th, 11th
Dear Neighbors,
We have received over 200 responses to the Brentwood Park survey - thank you for your feedback! If you missed the opportunity to fill out the survey online, please feel free to email friendsofbrentwoodpark@gmail.com or call 512-222-FOBP (3627) to get a PDF or paper copy of the survey or leave general comments. Questions/comments can also go to Gregory Montes (gregory.montes@ci.austin.tx.us; 512-974-9458), who is the PARD coordinator for the park plan. All responses received before the end of the planning process (anticipated September 15, 2011) will be included in the final
survey tabulations, and comments will be included in the planning process as they are received.
The next stage in the Brentwood Park planning process is workshops to discuss how proposed infrastructure improvements should be integrated into a long-term plan for the park. Two identical workshops will be held, one on the weekend and one during the week to make it easy for as many people as possible to attend:
Workshop #1: Saturday, August 6, 1pm - 2pm at Brentwood Elementary
Workshop #2: Thursday, August 11, 7pm - 8pm at Brentwood Elementary
The purpose of the workshops will be to create alternative layouts for future park improvements. For example, where would additional playground equipment go? Where should additional flower beds go? Trails?
After workshop participants have created various alternatives for the park, the community will have the opportunity to vote on their preferred layout online and through a final public meeting.
All meetings will be conducted using guidelines from Austin Parks and Recreation and layout options proposed by workshop attendees will be located both on the FOBP website and on the PARD website. Paper copies will also be located in the display case at Crestview Minimart IGA.
While this planning process gives park users the opportunity to think about what they would like for the future of the park, no individual project can go forward without its own approval process. To occur, each project must include a demonstration of neighborhood support (through public meetings, volunteer efforts, and fund raising) and PARD review.
The Brentwood Park master plan is expected to evolve over time with updates made approximately every 5 years to reflect the impact of completed improvements and the changing nature of the community.
Thank you,
Denman Glober and Friends of Brentwood Park
