Crestview Neighborhood Plan Contact Team needs input on lighting by Dec. 12th

Help The City Determine What Streets Need More Lighting from the Crestview Neighborhood Planning Contact Team

(Your Input Needed by Dec. 12th)

The City of Austin has asked for additional information regarding our neighborhood priorities. We submitted our 'top ten' list to the City in August - thanks to all of you who responded to the survey! 'Increase appropriate street lighting' ranked #6 on the 'top 10 list' and the CNPCT has received a request from our city staff person requesting a list of specific locations.

So, we are putting this issue back out to the neighborhood for input. Where do you see a need for additional street lighting? Please submit your suggestions to the CNPCT by using the contact form at: http://cnpct.weebly.com/contact.html prior to December 12th, 2010. Include the street address, block number or intersection where you feel more street-lighting is needed and a short description of why.

If you do not have internet access, please call 512-573-7812 and leave your name, return phone number and a brief message with the requested information.

The CNPCT will gather your suggestions and forward them on to our staff person for review. Please note: this project may or may not eventually be funded. This is the first step towards getting in the queue for approval. Additionally, the CNPCT will meet at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 20th at the Crestview United Methodist Church to discuss the feedback we receive on this matter. Anyone is welcome to attend and offer input. Hope to see you there!

Sustainable Neighborhoods Workshop Tues Nov 16

Sustainable Neighborhoods Workshop Tues Nov 16 - Top 10 Things That Make a Place "Family-Friendly"

The Comprehensive Plan is wrapping up feedback on four city "growth scenarios" without any hint as to which would be more family-friendly. Since this is a critical issue for North Central Austin, we're holding a workshop on Tuesday 11/16 to define a top 10 list of what that means, and submit it to City officials for feedback.

We can also consider defining "seniors-friendly" and even "friendly for persons with disabilities," if we have enough people attend who have experience with those categories. On many counts, these issues should overlap.

We'll be using the findings of the Families with Children Task Force as a brainstorming tool. It is at http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/council/downloads/factf_report.pdf.

Tues 11/16 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Village Christian Apartments, 7925 Rockwood Ln.

Provide Feedback on Comp Plan Growth Scenarios

It's not too late to take the City's survey on the four "growth scenarios." Please do this! There's an enormous hole in their methodology - there's no criteria offered for comparing the scenarios on "family-friendliness". Now is the time to push this issue, so that planners are thinking about it as they refine their assumptions for how Austin will grow. http://www.cityofaustin.org/compplan/survey.cfm
