General Meeting

Officer Rolando Gutierrez, our district representative with APD came to talk about Neighborhood Watch, personal and home safety, and National Night Out (October 5th).

Residential burglaries, vehicle burglaries, and auto thefts are the most common crimes in our area (Baker3 : I-35-Mopac-Koenig-Research).

Allandale’s Neighborhood Watch is very strong and effective with active, participating residents.

No consensus was reached on the intersection of Morrow and Lamar during the joint meeting with representatives from Highland and Crestview. The city asked if the parties would be willing to have another meeting and the Highland representatives said no. City staff subsequently met with the representatives separately. The staff would then meet a week ago last Thursday and made a recommendation to the sub-committee who would then take the recommendation to City Council. No known decision yet. Neighbors may be asked to write and call City Council members.

ANC is working to make neighborhood plans more integral to the city’s new comprehensive plan. The city is putting out 4 options for the comprehensive plan to receive public input from community forums currently taking place (see pamphlet in the latest utility bill). None take existing neighborhood plans into account.
