CS-1 zoning on Northcross Drive - Zoning and Platting Commission Case

UPDATE:
The Zoning and Platting Commission met on the 5th and heard this case. After a long hearing that touched on some complicated issues, the owners decided to withdraw their request. The boutique hotel will continue to operate for the time being, but the long term plan seems to be to convert the entire property to condos.

On Jan 5th, the Zoning and Platting Commission will hear an application for CS-1 zoning at 7685 Northcross Drive. CS-1 zoning allows for liquor sales. This is the Austin Woodfin Suites property across from the post office, and actually NOT within our neighborhood boundaries. A concerned Crestview resident brought this case to the attention of the CNA executive committee, and I promised to follow the case and report on it as it is close by.

It appears that this property previously had CS-1 zoning, established in 1987, and operated as an extended stay hotel with a cocktail lounge for 20 years until part of the property was converted to condos. At the time, The CS-1 zoning was allowed to lapse, and the owners are now seeking to re-instate it in order to convert a portion of the property into a small boutique hotel use with a cocktail lounge as an accessory use to the hotel.

As always, you can head on down to testify if you have concerns about this, and the hearing will be broadcast on Channel 6. I'll also report on the results here and in the neighborhood newsletter.
