The results of the ballot were:
YES 395 (70.5%)
NO 165 (29.5%)
Total Ballots sent: 2,882
Valid Ballots returned: 560 (19.4%)
60% of the returned ballots needed to be in favor for the proposal to pass, so IT PASSED. According to City staff, an almost 20% return is pretty healthy, which may indicate that our neighbors shared our concern that future development will bring increased traffic problems for us.
In the next few weeks traffic engineers will start marking the locations of devices. The speed cushions will be installed and temporary fixtures will be placed to mark the position of the traffic medians and curb extensions. After a 4-6 week study period, engineers will make any needed adjustments and construction will begin to install the permanent devices. Barring any weather delays, construction should be completed by mid-October.
