The next Sustainable Neighborhoods meeting will be next Tuesday, May 19, 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Village Christian Apartments Activity Room, 7925 Rockwood Ln.
The meeting will explore the future of the Lamar/Anderson intersection based on feedback from the City, CapMetro and TXDoT.
This intersection is critical to the future of our neighborhoods. Crossing Lamar along this stretch is challenging for cars, bikes and people alike. The City has zoned property on both sides for new apartments and condos, but these developments would be fragmented and future residents will have no choice but to drive, contributing directly to cut-thru traffic while undermining community. The intersection could be a logical place to site a transit station, but that too would require planning and investment. A neighborhood-friendly solution for this intersection will require extensive consensus-building among neighborhoods, property owners and government agencies.
