On the topic of Water Conservation, there were free give-aways, a presentation on the new rules of engagement for water conservation, and other watering information.
The free give-aways were
1) Aerators for your sink,
2) Shower heads for your shower, and
3) Water hose timers for your outside watering.
On the topic of the new rules for water conservation,
The rest of the presentation covered examples of good/bad water use, lawn care, and garden care. The mantra is "It is Xeriscape NOT Zeroscape!" Gravel yards are not Xeriscaped yards and do increase the "heat island" effect in our city. Lastly, did you know that residents with water sprinkler systems use more water than those who do not have these systems?
To find out more information from the city on all sorts of water conservation, garden/lawn care, and solutions to problem lawns/gardens, please go to http://www.growgreen.org/.
Thanks to the Kolache Shop for providing complementary Kolaches for all those who attended the meeting.
