McCallum Rolls Past Reagan On the Way Towards District Title

Submitted by Tom Davis

McCallum hosted the Reagan Raiders last Thursday Night at House Park, and when all was said and done McCallum improved their district record to 3 and 0 defeating the Raiders 47 to 7.

The Knights defense showed to be too much for the Raiders offense the whole night, holding the Raiders to just 71 yards rushing and 22 yards passing. McCallum’s Jonathan Fisher highlighted the strong defensive showing when he scooped up a Raider fumble and ran into the end zone for the Knights final score.

The Knights offense continued to be a force to be reckoned with on the field. Kevin Lusson, Jarred Houston, and Van Franks lead the way in passing, rushing and receiving respectively helping the Knights to gain 165 yards rushing and 186 yards passing for the night.

McCallum’s special teams didn’t want to be left out when A.J. Audain booted a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter. Van Franks took the opening kickoff in the second half and returned it for another touchdown, only to have it called back on a penalty, but McCallum marched on down the field highlighted by a 68-yard pass to Franks, which set up another MAC score.
McCallum has a well-deserved bye week this week, and will resume play Friday Oct. 12th. at 7:30pm, at Nelson Field when they take on a much improved LBJ Jaguar team which could determine the district championship.
